ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Sofia! I’m a singer-songwriter who grew up in a small town in Italy to an Italian dad and an American mom.
It's funny, growing up in Italy I was always "the American", and in America I was "the Italian girl". I was desperately seeking out a place where I could just be Sofia. And then I found music, and it just hit me. THAT’s where I get to be Sofia!
I wrote my first song with my best friend when we were 8 for our duo “Aley & Sofy”, and I have been in love with songwriting ever since. Our childhood consisted of dreaming of becoming rockstars one day, and we spent every weekend and after-school playdate writing and producing songs, creating merchandize out of anything we could find lying around the house, building limousines out of cardboard boxes, directing music videos, designing stage sets and costumes ... the list goes on.
Although I've opted out cardboard limos to drive real cars now, I've never stopped believing or working toward my dream. It's all I've thought about every day since I was 8, and it's what makes me jump out of bed with excitement every morning.
One of my favorite things about writing songs is realizing how many people go through the same things as you. A lot of the time in life you can feel like you're alone in your experiences. But then, whether it's a song, a movie or an honest conversation with a friend, we all have that moment when we’re like, “Oh, I’m not the only one who’s been through this”. And that’s immensely comforting. So, I guess my music is trying to bring that comfort blanket and wrap it around people :)
As I type this, I'm in the process of writing and producing my first EP, which is filled with personal thoughts and experiences I've recently gone through. I cannot wait for you to hear it and to get to dance and laugh and cry over these songs together.
